Danvers-Topsfield Massachusetts Area Branch American Association of University Women

The Danvers-Topsfield Area Branch of the AAUW was founded in 1983 and draws members from Danvers, Topsfield, Boxford, Georgetown, North Andover, Andover, Tewksbury, Groveland, Peabody, Haverhill, Middleton. AAUW is a leading advocate for education and equality for all women and girls. Membership is open to all those who hold an associate or equivalent degree or a baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited college or university. In principal and in practice the Danvers-Topsfield Area Branch values and seeks a diverse membership.

Members avail themselves of a variety of programs and events, including mission-based programs, community service, mentoring of girls and younger women, and social activities. For many events, the program committee partners with neighboring AAUW branches, local colleges, libraries, and other organizations.

Each year we have two major fundraisers to aid the Educational Foundation and the Legal Advocacy Fund. The functions are: an authors' luncheon and a dinner with a local fellowship recipient who speaks about her area of study.

The American Association of University Women is a national organization that promotes education and equity for all women and girls. Our commitment to these issues is reflected in our public policy efforts, programs, and diversity initiatives.

AAUW is composed of three divisions:

The Association, a 100,000-member organization with more than 1,300 branches nationwide, lobbies and advocates for education and equity;

The AAUW Educational Foundation, which funds pioneering research on girls and education, community action projects, and fellowships and grants for outstanding women around the globe.

The AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund, which provides funds and a support system for women seeking judicial redress for sex discrimination in higher education.
