Bremer School of Irish Dance
Sunset Ceili and Cocktail Party
Enjoy a night out and be entertained with live Irish music, step dancing, refreshments, and a silent auction. At the same time you will be helping The Bremer School's Irish step dancers to buy costumes and defray expenses for the Nationals in Tennessee in July. The lessons, the dresses, the hair, and the competitions all cost money. WITH YOUR SUPPORT, we can outfit our dancers properly for the upcoming competitions.
The "Nationals" are the North American Irish Dance Championships. They take place July 2nd to 6th, 2008, in Nashville, Tennessee, and are hosted this year by the New England Region.
Sunset Cocktail Party Celebrates Local Champion Irish Dancers
The Bremer School of Irish Dance will host a fundraiser cocktail party, the Sunset Ceili, on Saturday evening, June 21, 2008, from 6 to 11 PM. Held at the Blythswood Estate in Swampscott, Massachusetts, the event will raise money to help 26 dancers from the Bremer School of Irish Dance in Salem (MA) to attend the North American Irish Dance Championships in Nashville, Tennessee, in July.
The Sunset Ceili (pronounced kay-lee) (“ceili” is Irish Gaelic for party) will be a celebration of Irish music and dance.
Entertainment will include the Celtic band, An Banna Ceoil (“the band” in Gaelic), playing Irish and Scottish music. A crowd pleaser, An Banna Ceoil is fabulous; they travel all over New England.
Also entertaining the crowd will be Irish step dancers from the Bremer School. These young dancers are dancing at a very high level, and some have traveled overseas to compete. At the April 30th playoff game between the Celtics and the Hawks, many of these same dancers performed during the half-time show.
With the ocean as a magnificent backdrop, guests may bid on donations,
including artwork by local artists, during a silent auction. Hearty Hors
D'oeuvres, Assorted Desserts, Coffee and Tea. Beer, wine and soda available
(cash bar), The event will be catered by Vinwood Caterers.

A most welcome and appreciated addition to the entertainment was the Irish rock group "The Merj" who played great renditions of Galway Girl and Fisherman's Blues, along with more traditional reels, jigs and other lively tuens. Catch this local group July 6 2008 at 1PM at the Marblehead Street Festival on Washington Street, Marblehead (MA) as part of the Fourth of July weekend celebration.
